Public Access To Law
On Friday the 10th of November, Mary Bunion came to the St Gerard's to introduce us to law. The workshop was held in the pavilion and lasted the whole day. At the start we watched two case films and then she explained how the police were able to find them or how the courts were able to prove the accused guilty. The videos were very interesting and she told us that we should never overthink think things too much. After small break we began our first of the two mock trials. during these mock trails there were four to six barristers, the accused, the witness, the victim, and the rest of the students were the jury. in the first trial I was the victim and I got questioned by the opposition. During the second mock trial which was after break, I was lucky enough to take part in it again but this time I was the accused. In the end the jury said that I was innocent. Being a barrister or a solicitor has been a job that I would love to do when I get older and this workshop has really given me a great insight into what it would be like to have a job in this field of work.
