Mindfulness & Meditation
On Monday the 6th of November, Alison Canavan had a talk with us in the junior school hall about mindfulness and meditation. She talked to us about how she was very successful the modelling industry at very young age. She told us that, although she had an apartment in New York beside Central Park and had a her own billboard in Time Square, she started to feel depressed. The only way she coped with it, was by writing three things in a journal every morning for the things she was thankful for and why she was thankful for them. Another technique she used was the 478 breathing routine. This is when you breathe in for 4 seconds, hold for 7 and breathe out for 8 seconds. She taught us new ways to stay positive and deal with stress. for the last 15 minutes she invited us to meditate with her. During this meditation session she was helping us stay focused. This talked definitely taught me how to cope with stress and showed me the benefits of meditation.
